A Letter from the President of JAMM, Lois Mummaw firstname.lastname@example.org
Hello Jazz Lovers,
I am very excited to be JAMM’s President and to be beginning our 6th year as the Jazz Alliance of Mid-Michigan!
Who would have thought that as a result of the small group of jazz lovers my husband and I invited to our home in September of 2009, we would have behind us five JAMM Tribute Concerts–Sandy Izenson 2010, Patty Richards 2011, Sue & Gene Rebeck 2012, Randy Gelispie 2013, Sunny Wilkinson & Ron Newman 2014–and looking forward to our 6th JAMM Tribute at Troppo on February 8, 2015 honoring Betty Joplin. Or that JAMM would have provided scholarships to five high school students studying jazz. Or that JAMM would have contributed over $4000.00 to area jazz festivals. Or that JAMM would have a 2300+ contact list of jazz lovers who receive our free weekly enewsletter to keep them up-to-date on live jazz events in Mid-Michigan. Or that JAMM would become a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
All of us at JAMM are proud of what we have accomplished and we look forward to continuing all our programs and donations in the future. JAMM has set goals for 2015. We would like to increase the amount of our scholarship and the number of students we reward. We would like to increase our financial contribution to each of the area jazz festivals. We would like to host an internationally known jazz act once per year as a benefit for our Mid-Michigan Jazz Community. We have an idea for a jazz program for toddlers. And a program for elementary & middle schoolers.
JAMM has a wealth of talent in our volunteers and board members–they are the best on the planet! I suppose most organizations think this is true of their volunteers, too. But, ours really are! We are similar to those other charitable organizations in another way–we need donations to accomplish our goals.
Please take a look below at the four ways you can support JAMM. Thanks!
Peace, Love, and Long Live Live Jazz,
