Jazz Tuesdays featuring Mark Kieme
January 30 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pmFree
Jazz Tuesdays is a weekly event featuring great jazz musicians from all over the state of Michigan. Each week brings in a different guest artist and a new experience.
This week our featured artist is Ann Arbor saxophonist Mark Kieme. An alumnus of the University of Michigan School of Music, Mark studied with Larry Teal and Donald Sinta. After college, Mark studied with noted jazz educator Harry Meidema of Indianapolis. Mark is on staff at Oakland University, teaching Applied Jazz Saxophone. He is a charter member of the Detroit Jazz Festival Orchestra. Mark is also part of Walter White’s Small Medium @ Large band, and performs regularly with The Johnny Trudell Big Band, The Bobby Streng House Big Band, and The Motor City Jazz Orchestra. Mark has performed often with the Detroit Symphony, and can be heard in a vast array of settings throughout the year, from the concert hall, to ethnic festivals, jazz festivals, local theaters, and many different Klezmer/Orthodox Jewish groups throughout the Midwest.
Mark will be backed up by Lansing’s own Jim Alfredson, Hammond organ, and Jazz Tuesdays host Jeff Shoup, drums.
Jazz Tuesdays is generously supported by Gregg Hill Publishing, the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival, and INDe Drum Lab.
